Nestled among the gentle hills on the 150 year old Eureka College campus, the Lilac Arboretum is the heart of the eureka! Lilac Festival and Fine Arts Fair, held annually during the end of April or beginning of May.  Dates for 2006 - 2008 are:

2007- April 20-21

Visitors to the arboretum are just steps away from sites made historic by Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan.  The Arboretum is adjacent to the Peace Garden,  which commemorates Eureka as the precise location of the beginning of the end of the Cold War.

Lilacs in the arboretum have come from all over the world.  Following an age-old tradition at Eureka College, graduates who travel the globe bring back Lilacs for the Arboretum.  In turn, Lilacs from the arboretum find their way to gardens throughout Eureka and across the country.

The festival is centered around the wide variety of Lilacs in the  arboretum, but also includes a Fine Arts Fair, childrens' activities, community activities and other
special events.

Fine Art and Crafts of all types are on display and available for purchase during the festival.  The artists and craftspeople who created the works are available to the public during the Fine Arts Fair.

The Festival is coordinated by the Walnut Grove Fine Arts Association, which takes its name from the original name of the town.

Eureka is easily found along Illinois Route 117 just seven miles north of Interstate 74 at Goodfield.
